Thanks for these thought-provoking words. I have to admit I never paid much attention to football during my years and years of living in the UK, but now that the World Cup is upon us, I find myself drawn to the game like never before. Why the change? I’m certain I haven’t yet discovered the beauty of Messi’s performances, Spain’s choreography, or the marvels of the Dutch team, as the last commenter says.

So what is it that makes football suddenly attractive to apathetic people like me? I have always preferred individual sports like tennis (go Wimbledon!) to team sports.

Maybe it’s all the rotten news over here in the good old USA (the economy, the oil spill, the war in Afghanistan)–I get so tired of hearing it, I’d rather watch a soaring soccer ball and dream about what it must be like for a team, and a nation, to take the World Cup.

Confusing, tricky line.

The first part made me fall in love. The last part made me fall out of it. But, you can make amends. At the next month World Championship in South Africa you may rediscover the beauty of Messi’s performances, Spain’s choreography and, of course, the marvellous Dutch team.

see…football isn’t only a sport, it’s a way life…some fanatics even think it’s a religion, sorry folks not me..i still pray to the big G up there and asked for my team to win matches heheheheee….
